Glenreagh Memorial Museum | Glenreagh Village History

The Glenreagh Memorial Museum is a historical gem that offers a glimpse into the rich past of the Orara Valley. The museum, an extension of the School of Arts, was made possible by a bicentennial grant.

Visitors to the museum can explore relics from the gold mining era and artifacts from the early timber industry. Day-to-day items such as a collection of old china pieces. Additionally, there is an entertainment corner showcasing radios from the 1920s and an early film projector.

Be sure to stop by the museum if you’re visiting the Glenreagh Markets. The markets are on the 1st Saturday of every month excluding January. For those looking to visit outside of market days, appointments can be made for entry.

As the oldest village in the Orara Valley, Glenreagh has managed to preserve much of its historic charm from its days as a bustling gold mining and timber hub. The Post Office features an Australia Post and Communications display, complete with an operating Party Line and original PO Boxes.
